Spurs Transfer Roundup: Eriksen bid expected, no deal close for 18yo, Andersen update

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham’s transfer window has so far been dominated by Christian Eriksen following his comments in regards to a move away form north London. Today’s Spurs transfer roundup brings you an update on the Dane’s situation, as well as reports including two transfer targets.

Real bid for Eriksen

According to the Sun, Real Madrid are ready to make a bid for Eriksen. The La Liga side will reportedly offer £45million plus 22-year-old Dani Ceballos in exchange for the former Ajax man. Daniel Levy is reported to be looking for around £100m for the player.

Clarke talks not advanced

Any deal for Leeds United’s Jack Clarke is not in its final stages according to football.london. The 18-year-old had an impressive first season with the Lilywhites, scoring two goals and providing two assists as he mainly came on from the bench.

Clean path to Andersen

Arsenal will not move for Joachim Andersen, according to the Daily Star, as the £31.2m asking price is too high for the Gunners. This is good news for Spurs, who have also been linked with the Sampdoria man and may now be more inclined to make a move for the 23-year-old.

Leeds Transfer Roundup: Becker update, interest in former star, Diaz released

[ad_pod ]

The news continues to come thick and fast at Elland Road as Leeds United prepare for the new season. Today’s Leeds transfer roundup includes a target potentially moving to another club, interest in a former player and the release of a Spanish youngster.

Leeds miss out on Becker

Kicker are reporting that Leeds target Sheraldo Becker (The Mirror, 19/05, page 70 – also covered on FLW) could be joining Union Berlin this summer. Union were promoted to the Bundesliga last season, and it appears as though the Dutchman may well favour a move to Germany over England.

Snodgrass on Leeds

Robert Snodgrass is a target for Leeds United according to trusted West Ham insider EXWHUEmployee. Talking on The West Ham Way podcast yesterday, he credited Leeds with an interest in a loan deal but the Hammers are reluctant to do a deal on those terms this summer.

Diaz leaves

Leeds United player Hugo Diaz has confirmed that the club has released him this summer in a post on his Twitter page. The Spaniard made just one appearance during his time in Yorkshire.

Celtic should return for David Turnbull in January transfer window

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

David Turnbull, one of Celtic’s big summer transfer targets, is set to earn a new contract at Motherwell, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

What’s the story?

Turnbull was on the verge of joining the Hoops last week before a club medical revealed a knee problem that requires surgery.

The deal collapsed, seemingly through no fault of any of the invested parties, and it was later confirmed the 19-year-old will now be staying at the Steelmen to rehab.

How can Celtic improve next season? A Hoops fan tells us how in the video below…

The paper say that in order to soften the blow of his failed move to the Hoops, Motherwell are now set to hand him a new three-year deal at Fir Park, increasing his wages and inserting a transfer release clause into his contract.

It’s said that the release clause will stand at the £3.25m figure Celtic were willing to pay for him before his medical issues.

His injury problems are now expected to keep him out for the rest of the year, but the report states that there should be no long-term problems resulting from the surgery.

January move

Celtic legend Davie Hay has tipped the player this weekend to bounce back from the injury blow and possibly win a move to Celtic Park again.

It’s certainly something the Hoops should consider.

If the contract reports are true then he is not going to cost any more than the fee they were willing to pay for him last week, making any potential deal straightforward.

With any other interested clubs now aware of what it will cost to sign him, Celtic shouldn’t waste any time and follow up their major summer interest with a January move for the player.

Turnbull is a significant midfield talent having scored 15 times last season, winning the SFWA Young Player of the Year award in the process.

The deal is still there to be done and there’s no reason the Hoops should miss out.

Harry Kane in good spirits in honeymoon Instagram snap

[ad_pod ]

Slowly but surely the holiday season for the professional football players is coming to its conclusion.

And this is especially true once we step foot into July and pre-season preparations get underway.

Harry Kane, however, is seemingly still in full holiday and relaxation mode as the Tottenham Hotspur superstar posted an

/Bza7cbZB3R6/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link” data-lasso->Instagram snap from the beach, captioning it as “paradise”.

Of course, this is still very much a part of his honeymoon as Kane recently got married to Kate Goodland and the happy couple are still off celebrating.

It remains to be seen when Kane will return to the club but Spurs have been exceptionally busy while their star striker is off enjoying himself.

The club have recently completed the signings of two exceptional talents.

Tanguy Ndombele joined from Lyon and Jack Clarke was purchased and then loaned back to Leeds United.

It’s safe to say that Spurs are finally making strides in the transfer market after what feels like an eternity of abstaining from transfers.

West Ham target Wilson to be offered new Bournemouth deal

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

Callum Wilson is set to be offered a new contract at AFC Bournemouth to ward off interest from West Ham United, per The Sun.

What’s the word?

The Hammers are on the hunt for a striker after losing Marko Arnautovic, Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez in this transfer window.

West Ham attempted to sign Maxi Gomez from Celta Vigo but Football FanCast sources understand that he is instead set to join Valencia.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini had specifically requested the signing of the Uruguay international, per FFC sources, but Director of Football Mario Husillos was unable to broker a deal.

The Sun claim that the Hammers had subsequently shown an interest in signing the Cherries forward, with a £35m offer mooted, but he is to be offered a new deal worth £100,000-per-week to keep him on the south coast.

Options running thin

Where do West Ham turn?

This is the question with less than a month remaining of the transfer window.

Wilson would have been a marquee signing – he scored 14 goals and registered 10 assists in the Premier League last season – but that too now appears to be a dead end.

Having already missed out on Gomez, Pellegrini and Husillos may be getting desperate.

As it is, he has Javier Hernandez and Jordan Hugill as his striking options; the Irons need to ensure that they do a deal for a forward, any forward, quickly.

They cannot afford to begin the 2019/20 season with just two strikers, after all.

Manchester United fans react to rejected offer for Nemanja Matic

[ad_pod ]

Amid all the humdrum surrounding a potential move for Paul Pogba, the uncertain future of Nemanja Matic has seemingly gone under the radar.

Reports in recent weeks had suggested Matic had sought talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after being made aware of interest from Serie A giants Inter and Milan.

Now, journalist Duncan Castles has revealed United have rejected an offer from Inter worth cash and Radja Nainggolan for the Serbia international.

After hearing that they had reportedly turned down an offer for the 30-year-old, United fans took to Twitter to reveal their thoughts on what is clearly a very divisive piece of news.

Many supporters of the Manchester side were seemingly perplexed that they had turned such an offer and questioned why they would make that decision.

Others however appeared to be more understanding of United’s position on the matter and accepted that the club had probably made the right choice in refusing to take on a player like Nainggolan, who has plenty of his own issues.

Celtic could hinder Karamoko Dembele’s chances by keeping Lewis Morgan

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

Lewis Morgan has hinted that Neil Lennon sees him staying at Celtic Park this summer after spending the second half of last season at Sunderland.

What’s the story?

The 22-year-old winger has said that Lennon hopes he can bring something different to his side: “He’s been clear on what he wants from me and he wants me to bring a new dimension in the team.”

This seems to imply a fresh start at Parkhead for the Scotland international, who was unlucky not to earn promotion while on loan at Sunderland, missing out in a dramatic play-off final loss to Charlton.

Morgan has made an impact at Celtic already this season, impressing against FK Sarajevo in the Champions League qualifiers.

Too much choice for Lennon?

Morgan staying at the club means that, barring any shock exits this summer, there is a ridiculous amount of competition on the wings.

On top of the 22-year-old, Scott Sinclair, Jonny Hayes, James Forrest, Marian Shved, Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele can be called upon to play as wingers.

Seven first-team options in one role is a lot, particularly when it’s fair to assume that an injury-free Forrest nails down one of the starting berths. The 28 year-old directly contributed to 38 goals last term, so there is effectively six players fighting for one spot.

Youngsters like Dembele probably don’t expect to play 50 games this coming season, but you’d hope to see them in a Celtic shirt occasionally, being bedded into the first team with a view to explode onto the scene in the coming years.

Yet with such fierce competition ahead of him, all of whom are older and more experienced and therefore less risky choices for the manager, he will see his chances of first-team football severely restricted.

Dembele looks a real talent too. The 16-year-old is some way off becoming a first-team regular but impressed in his sole appearance for the Hoops thus far, and Lennon did say back in June that he would join the first-team, stating that the teenager is “ready” for the step up.

And yet, with such a stockpile of more senior options all fighting for what is likely to be just one spot, keeping Morgan, who is only 22 himself, looks likely to completely stifle any hopes of seeing Dembele on the pitch this year on a consistent basis.

West Ham youngster Xande Silva endures horrific summer

[ad_pod ]

West Ham United youngster Xande Silva has endured a horrific summer, per Football.London.

What’s the word?

The forward has undergone surgery in Portugal after suffering from a blockage in his bowel.

The report claims that Silva has spent three weeks recovering in his native country prior to his return to England.

Silva has reportedly lost a great deal of weight – three kilos, or nearly half a stone – and will be carefully managed upon his return.

Breakthrough delayed

Silva has been a shining light in West Ham’s youth teams.

The 22-year-old has scored seven goals in nine games for the Under-23 side and has also played twice for the senior side.

Capped at every Portugal youth level up to the Under-20s, Silva made his Premier League debut against Burnley in December of last year.

But it now seems that he will need to be eased back into things after enduring such a horrendous break away from the club. He will be put on a private training schedule for the next six weeks.

It is not good news for the attacker, particularly with Manuel Pellegrini’s squad currently lacking bodies going forward.

After Jordan Hugill was loaned to QPR, the club have just summer signing Sebastian Haller and Javier Hernandez as their out-and-out forward options.

Silva could have taken advantage of that, but it now appears that he will have to wait – opportunity missed.

Leeds confirm Eddie Nketiah loan as Patrick Bamford’s burden is lifted

[ad_pod ]

Football FanCast’s News articles summarise the biggest stories in world football, based on information from other sources.

Leeds confirmed their second loan deal of deadline day as the transfer ticker moved into its final hour of activity.

The deal they concluded was that of Eddie Nketiah, a move that as the day went on looked more and more likely to happen after a report from David Ornstein claimed he was on his way to the club to complete a transfer on Thursday morning.

The Whites were looking to wrap up a temporary move for the 20-year-old earlier in the week, as Victor Orta’s close ties with Unai Emery were disclosed.

Bristol City were also in the race for his signature but Ornstein revealed that discussions between Orta and the striker managed to convince him to move to Yorkshire for the season.

Nketiah has put pen to paper on a season-long loan agreement and will now embark on his first move away from the Gunners after impressing during a pre-season in which he scored against Bayern Munich and Fiorentina.

Leeds also beat Swansea in order to land Nketiah for the entirety of the campaign.

The verdict

The fact Leeds were able to beat various suitors to his signature says something about the size of the club but at last, the Whites have finally added a new striker to their ranks.

After Kemar Roofe was injured Leeds were going to be left with just Patrick Bamford in attack for around a month.

However, his permanent move to Anderlecht meant they were left facing an even larger period with just one main attacker.

Nketiah’s arrival, therefore, should help offer them greater support, thus boosting Leeds’ promotion hopes significantly.

He hasn’t played in the division before but did score twice against Norwich in the Carabao Cup in 2017/18.
